10 May Workshop–Strengthening Brakes: Harnessing ADHD Potential

Over the 10-11 May weekend, Unlocking ADHD held two enriching workshops featuring Dr Sharon Saline, renowned clinical psychologist, Award-winning author and ADHD consultant.

Kicking off on 10 May, “Strengthening Brakes: Harnessing ADHD Potential” was attended by over 120 professionals who sought to find out more about the science behind ADHD and effective management strategies. Through the full-day course at NUSS Kent Ridge Guild House, participants delved into the biological mechanisms of ADHD, executive function, as well as co-existing conditions and evidence-based interventions. It was a well-attended and successful event, as the audience were engaged by Dr Saline’s in-depth knowledge and expertise.

We are grateful to our Event Partner, Hyphens Pharma for their support for our activities. Dr Lian Wee Bin, pediatrician and neonatologist from SpecialKids Child Health and Development Clinic also gave a presentation on ADHD medication. This was received with much interest by event attendees.

The interactive training workshop received highly positive feedback:

“Very informative and educational with a good mix and coverage of topics, and also not just downloading of information but for a practitioner like myself learning from another practitioner, the speaker’s sharing on how she did things with her own clients was very helpful. Neurodivergence is also very underexposed in Singapore so any workshop or course like this, especially one of such quality, should be recommended.“

“I learnt so much! I thought it was just about ADHD but it was about ADHD and its occurrence with other issues like depression and anxiety. I also liked all the stories and videos shared. Very informative.”

11 May Workshop– Unlocking ADHD Brains: Strategies for Thriving in Life

Continuing the momentum from Friday, Dr Saline gave another presentation at Moulmein-Cairnhill Community Centre: “Unlocking ADHD Brains: Strategies for Thriving in Life” on 11 May. This half-day workshop catered specifically to members of the ADHD community, and Dr Saline provided a wealth of insight on ADHD through the lifespan, focusing on comorbidities and strategies for the entire family.

Notably, Dr Saline explained her “5Cs of ADHD”– self-control, collaboration, consistency, compassion, and celebration. The event received much support from the community, with the audience ranging from ADHDers themselves to parents of children with ADHD.

We are grateful to the MoCa Well-Being Circles for their support as Venue Sponsor to enable the event to be more accessible to the community. Mr. Alvin Tan, Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth, and Minister of State for Trade and Industry, graced the occasion. We appreciate his support for our event.

Both events received extremely positive feedback, with participants commenting that they “gained new knowledge and perspectives” about ADHD.

“Very insightful with positive sharings and encouragement. Absolutely enjoyed the takeaways and good call on one session for parents and one for educators/professionals etc.“

“2 steps forward, 1 step backwards is still moving forward“

Unlocking ADHD is grateful to all our team members and volunteers for all their efforts to ensure that the two days of interactive training went smoothly and resulted in life-transforming practical information for the attendees.
