Dr Patrick Liew is a an award-winning entrepreneur, investor, humanitarian and philanthropist. I would like to share my experience with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) – ADHD Can Be A Blessing!
As somebody who has been blessed with ADHD, I would like to encourage those who are having the same condition. ADHD can affect structured learning and other areas of life. What is seen as a setback can make you a stronger person and bring you closer to success. Instead of allowing ADHD to strangle you, you can leverage it to strengthen your chances for sustainable achievements.
Let me share some ways to cope with ADHD.
- Acknowledge that you have ADHD.
You may have to live with it for the rest of your life. Do not deny it but instead, take full responsibility to respond to and manage it. For example, unhealthy food can worsen the problem. Therefore, strive to eat appropriately and live a healthier lifestyle.
- Learn more about ADHD and manage it to your advantage.
Develop appropriate attitudes, knowledge, skills, and habits to confront and overcome symptoms of ADHD. Cultivate different ways to manage the stresses caused by these symptoms. As a result, you will improve your emotional muscles and enhance your overall well-being to cope better with these and other physical and emotional challenges. All these initiatives can also improve your productivity at work and in life. In the process, you will learn that there is always a way to cope with any challenge in life.
- Turn the challenge of having ADHD into an opportunity to achieve better outcomes.
It can become a platform rather than a pitfall to achieve success. Develop structures, systems, and processes to overcome the downsides of having ADHD. The same problem-solving skills and techniques can also be applied to improve your work and relationships and achieve better outcomes.
ADHD can soften you, strengthen you, and enlighten you.
- It can soften you by making you humble and a better human.
You can better understand and empathize with people who are facing challenges in their lives. It can make you a more compassionate, empathetic, and approachable person.
- Through coping with ADHD, you will be strengthened to achieve greater successes.
To overcome the downsides of ADHD, you need to improve your attitude, discipline, knowledge, skills, and lifestyle. Learn how to persist and persevere to achieve desirable results. As a result, you will become stronger and have more grit and resilience to face other challenges in life.

You can inspire them with how you turn a mental condition into an advantage of a higher order. In short, ADHD can become a stepping stone to success and not a millstone around your neck.
More than anything else, be grateful and thankful for the gift of ADHD or any other so-called challenges in life. Learn to love and appreciate yourself. Loving yourself is one of the best gifts you can give. Without self-love, you can’t even start on the path to satisfaction, success, and significance. Self-love is the fuel for motivation, action, and contribution.
